Crottins Chavignol cheese taken from the shelves

The Federal Food Inspection Department has warned consumers against "Crottins de Chavignol au Lait Cru", a French type of goat cheese manufactured with raw milk. It may contain e.coli bacteria. People that have eaten the cheese recently should be on the alert. Consumers can bring the cheese back to their supermarket store to get a refund.

The cheese was imported from France. "We have received an alert through the European alert system, and have been asked to warn consumers and to ask them to refrain from eating this type of cheese", says Lieve Busschots of the federal Food Safety Agency. "If consumers have intestinal or stomach problems after eating the cheese, they should go to the doctor's straight away and explain what they have eaten."

The cheese is being distributed in Belgium by Carrefour, Delhaize and Cora. If you purchased the cheese, you can bring it back to get a refund.
