Danneels files complaint after press leaks

Cardinal Godfried Danneels has filed a complaint with the judicial authorities after different press leaks have damaged his reputation. The former Belgian Primate finds that his reputation has already been dented, suffering irreparable damage.

Yesterday, the public prosecutor's office announced that it is investigating who leaked information to the press about Operation Chalice, and about the questioning of Godfried Danneels (see: read also).

Danneels says that his reputation has been damaged by the leaks. He wants to protect his rights by launching a third-party claim.

One of the leaks concerned the rumour that a photo of a naked girl had been found on the hard disk of Danneels' personal computer that had been seized by police. However, this "nude photo" turned out to be an art photo of the VRT's cultural website Cobra.be (small photo).

The photo appeared on the website as part of an amateur art contest. Apparently, the photo is automatically stored on the hard disk of users visiting the web page.
