Belgium to ban the burqa in public

31/03/10 - Belgium is now on course to become the first country in the world to ban the burqa, a garment worn by some strict Muslims that is intended to cover the entire female body. The home affairs select committee of the Belgian Chamber of Representatives has now unanimously approved draft legislation. It is a plenary session of Parliament that will have the final say.
