"Strike costs a million euros an hour"

Eddy Bruyninckx of the Port of Antwerp says that port companies are incensed by the pilots' strike that he describes as "a catastrophe".

The CEO of the Port of Antwerp added that damage to the Port of Antwerp was exceptionally large. He believes that some one million euros were lost per hour as a result of the strike by maritime pilots on Monday night. The pilots are protesting against the government's pension reforms. A go-slow continued to cause disruption on Tuesday.

Eddy Bruyninckx: "The reputation of the port is severely damaged. It's impossible to estimate how much damage has been caused."

The port's CEO is concerned that the pilots are threatening further action and has little understanding for their protest: "I do not believe they are among the least privileged."
