Queen Mathilde Child Focus’ new Honorary Chair

Queen Mathilde of the Belgians has been appointed Honorary Chair of the association for missing and sexually exploited children Child Focus. Queen Mathilde follows on from her mother-in-law Queen Paola, who was the association's Honorary Chair for the past 15 years.

Child Focus says that it is very happy that Queen Mathilde is taking over as honorary Chair. "We are very honoured indeed that Queen Mathilde has accepted to take over as Honorary Chair from Queen Paola", Child Focus' Heidi De Pauw told journalists. "This really is something that is within her sphere of interests."

Queen Mathilde is equally enthusiastic "As a mother of four children I feel especially interested. You can really rely on my support" the Queen told a press conference on Friday morning.

Queen Paola was also at the press conference and was presented with a book containing photos, drawings and children's poems.
