Belgian whisky gets excellent score

The Belgian whisky brand "The Belgian Owl" has received an excellent score of 95.5 percent in Jim Murray's Whisky Bible 2011.

At present, the Belgian Owl is the only Belgian whisky that exists. The Belgian Owl aged 44 months has been named the European Single Cask Whisky of the Year in the category European Whisky at an earlier occasion.

Etienne Bouillon, who created the Belgian whisky, needed 11 years to realise his dream. In 2004, the first bottle was ready for the market. Nowadays, some 25,000 bottles are produced each year.

According to the Whisky Bible 2011, the world's best whiskies are Ardbeg Uigeadail (a Scottish single malt), Ballantine’s 17 Years Old (a Scottish blended whisky) and Sazerac Rye 18 Years Old (an American Straight Rye). These obtain a score of 97.5 percent.
